One of the people I follow is Andrew Huberman and in a recent podcast, he mentions importance of deep rest following a focused learning session. While deep rest like a nap or an nsdr break is a luxury at work I cannot afford, I have found deep breath as a naive replacement for that. A lot of the times during the hectic week, I’ve found myself being caught up in the constant stream of causal chain of thoughts. While those are necessary for the routine functioning and focus required to get through the tasks, I’ve a newfound appreciation for a way to soft-reset the mind. Taking a deep breath is a new addition to my toolkit and a reminder at regular intervals helps me keep track of it. It not only helps with retention better, but it also resets the train of thoughts. I’ve found it being helpful during work, before a set during workouts, any situation I may be nervous about say before a presentation or a date, and so on.
